Garcetti not ruling out run for governor in California
Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti (D), who is rumored to be mulling a 2020 presidential bid, is not closing the door on a potential run for California governor.
“I have not made any decision on that,” Garcetti told The Sacramento Bee.
Other Democrats vying for California governor include former Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, Lt. Gov. Gavin Newsom and State Treasurer John Chiang.
{mosads}Garcetti has also made recent trips to New Hampshire and Wisconsin. In New Hampshire, he campaigned with Manchester mayoral candidate Joyce Craig.
The New York Times previously reported that national donors have urged Garcetti to run for president.
In the past, the Democratic mayor has spoken out against some of Trump’s policies.
Last month, he vowed to resist the Trump administration’s orders on immigration despite threats from the White House that the city could lose federal funding.
