Warner: New documents ‘opened a lot of new questions’ in Senate’s Russia probe

Sen. Mark Warner (D-Va.) said new documents have raised more questions in the Senate Intelligence Committee’s investigation into Russia’s election interference.

Warner, the top Democrat on the committee, told Politico that Congress late last year got “extraordinarily important new documents” regarding its Russia probe.

He said the “end-of-the-year document dumps” showed “very significant” revelations.

He added that they “opened a lot of new questions” regarding the Senate panel’s investigation.

{mosads}“We’ve had new information that raises more questions,” Warner said during the interview for “The Global Politico.”

Warner also said he thinks there is a “coordinated effort to try to impede the investigation.”

There are currently multiple investigations into Russia’s election interference and possible collusion between the Trump campaign and Moscow.

President Trump has dismissed the Russia probe as a “witch hunt” and has denied collusion.

Warner also said during the interview that special counsel Robert Mueller is “getting closer and closer to the truth.”

“Closer and closer to the truth is getting closer and closer to the president,” he said.
