Dem senator: In normal world, Kushner wouldn’t still have his job

Sen. Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) says in “a normal political world” White House senior adviser Jared Kushner would no longer have his job.

“In a normal world, we wouldn’t be talking about security clearances, Jared Kushner would have been fired about four hours ago,” Murphy said on MSNBC.

Kushner, President Trump’s son-in-law, allowed Trump, Vice President Pence and other aides to go out and “repeat a lie,” Murphy said, “that no one in the Trump operation met with the Russian government or operatives of the Russian government,” Murphy said.

{mosads}”He watched those individuals go out and engage in that parade of lies. Now, maybe they knew they were lies, but giving them the benefit of the doubt, Jared Kushner at least knew that they were lies,” he continued.

“And so, if this were a normal political world, Jared Kushner wouldn’t have a job by the end of today and at the very least, he should absolutely have his security clearance revoked.”

His comments came after Donald Trump Jr. on Tuesday released a chain of emails detailing his conversations with music promoter Rob Goldstone about setting up a meeting last year with a Russian lawyer.

The meeting was also attended by Kushner and then-Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort.

Emails from Goldstone indicate that the lawyer possessed information that “would incriminate Hillary and her dealings with Russia and would be very useful to your father.”

“This is obviously very high level and sensitive information but is part of Russia and its government’s support for Mr. Trump,” wrote Goldstone.
