Trump praises ‘very enthusiastic Roy Moore fans’ at Pensacola rally

President Trump on Saturday praised a “big contingent of very enthusiastic Roy Moore fans” at his rally the previous night, and railed against the Republican Senate candidate’s Democratic opponent, Doug Jones.

“A big contingent of very enthusiastic Roy Moore fans at the rally last night. We can’t have a Pelosi/Schumer Liberal Democrat, Jones, in that important Alabama Senate seat,” Trump tweeted the morning after his rally in Pensacola, Fla. “Need your vote to Make America Great Again! Jones will always vote against what we must do for our Country.”

In a previous tweet, Trump said the crowd at the rally was “loud, loving and really smart.”

“They definitely get what’s going on,” he tweeted.

Trump’s rally came just days before the Alabama special election to fill Attorney General Jeff Sessions’s former seat. While the White House maintained Trump wouldn’t go to Alabama to campaign for Moore, the Pensacola rally took place just miles away from the Alabama border and inside one of Alabama’s largest media markets. 

{mosads}At the rally, Trump continued offering enthusiastic support for Moore, telling supporters to “get out and vote for Roy Moore.”

“Go, go, go,” Trump said at one point.

Moore has faced multiple allegations of sexual misconduct, including assault. One woman says that he initiated a sexual encounter with her when she was 14 years old and he was 32.

Top GOP leaders called on Moore to drop out of the race in the weeks since the allegations first came to light, but the Alabama Republican has refused those calls and steadfastly denied the accusations.

Trump has gone all-in supporting Moore in recent days, and has used his Twitter account and public remarks to endorse Moore and attack Jones.
