Carter Page questioned in FBI Russia investigation: report

The FBI has reportedly questioned Carter Page, who formerly served as an adviser to Donald Trump’s presidential campaign, on multiple occasions as part of its investigation into Russian election meddling.

According to a Monday report in The Washington Post, Page was questioned five times in March during meetings that totaled 10 hours.

The report said Carter’s interviews with FBI officials are “the most extensive known questioning of a potential suspect” in the bureau’s investigation into Russia’s attempts to meddle in the United States presidential election. The investigation is looking into possible links between Trump campaign staff members and the Kremlin.

{mosads}While Page told the newspaper that the interviews did take place, he declined to tell the Post if he has been in contact with officials since being questioned.

“Our frank and open conversations gave me confidence that there are still logical, honest individuals at the Bureau who respect civil rights and the Constitution,’’ Page told the newspaper.

Page also denied the allegations against him, which include that he improperly communicated with Russian officials during the presidential campaign.

The Post reported in April that the FBI had obtained a warrant under the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act to surveil Page.
