Secret Service arrests fence jumper

The Secret Service on Wednesday arrested a person who tried to jump over a barricade near the White House grounds, the agency said.

Officers apprehended the person before making it over the bike racks near a park adjacent to the Eisenhower Executive Office building.

“The individual was charged with unlawful entry and transported to the Metropolitan Police Department,” the Secret Service said in a statement.

{mosads}Pennsylvania Avenue was closed to pedestrian traffic around 4:30 p.m., and agents carrying long guns fanned out across the North Lawn.

The Secret Service said the street was re-opened to pedestrians around an hour later.

The agency has dealt with multiple fence-jumping incidents in recent years, and the pace has not let up since President Trump took office.

A man scaled the fence in March and was on the White House grounds for 15 minutes before being arrested.

The White House was put on lockdown two weeks ago after a person tried to jump a barrier outside the White House.
