Nicki Minaj endorses Cuomo for governor

Nicki Minaj endorsed New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D) ahead of Thursday’s New York primary elections, weighing in on a political campaign again.

In a tweet, the rap superstar urged New Yorkers to vote for Cuomo and his running mate, Lt. Gov. Kathy Hochul.

{mosads} Minaj also threw her weight behind activist Letitia James, who is running for New York attorney general. James would be the first black woman elected to statewide office in New York.

“New Yorkers & all NYCHA residents its time to get JUSTICE,” Minaj tweeted. “VOTE Thur. Sept. 13 for Gov. Cuomo, Lt. Gov. Hochul & Tish James. They know how to work for the people to make NY even GREATER. Spread the word. See you at the Polls!”

Minaj occasionally weighs in on political matters and previously endorsed former Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton during a 2015 interview with Billboard magazine where she called President Trump “hilarious.”

Minaj’s endorsement comes one day after actress Amy Schumer supported Cuomo, despite having previously donated $10,000 to his rival for the Democratic gubernatorial primary, actress Cynthia Nixon.

Minaj in 2012 raised eyebrows with lyrics that seemed to imply an endorsement of former presidential candidate Mitt Romney

“I’m a Republican, voting for Mitt Romney/You lazy b-tches is f—in’ up the economy,” she rapped on a Lil Wayne song.

Afterwards, she tweeted “love and support” to former President Obama.
