Poll: Americans dislike health law, healthcare status quo

The poll, released Wednesday, also found that self-identified “independents” and “moderates” are skeptical of the law, meaning GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney’s promises to work against it in the White House may be well-received by swing voters.

{mosads}Fifty-two percent of independents expressed unfavorable opinions of the Affordable Care Act — making them just a hint more likely to dislike the law than political “moderates,” 50 percent of whom expressed an unfavorable opinion of it.

The Affordable Care Act as a whole tends to fare poorly in opinion polls. Its individual provisions are often more popular than the law itself, a polling memo noted, though these are outweighed by wide unhappiness with the individual mandate to buy health insurance.
