House passes resolution to condemn Boko Haram

The House on Thursday passed, 411-2, a resolution condemning the abduction of Nigerian female students by the terrorist group Boko Haram.

Boko Haram abducted 276 schoolgirls in April and threatened to sell them into slavery. Fifty-three students have been able to escape, according to local officials.

{mosads}The House passed a similar resolution by voice vote last month to condemn the Nigerian kidnappings.

The resolution passed on Thursday updates the condemnation of Boko Haram by including the June 5 kidnapping of an additional 20 women from northeastern Nigeria. Both resolutions were sponsored by Rep. Frederica Wilson (D-Fla.).

Reps. Walter Jones (R-N.C.) and Thomas Massie (R-Ky.) were the only members to vote against the resolution.
