Poll: Greater majority believes Trump use of Twitter a ‘bad thing’

A greater majority of U.S. voters in a new poll says President Trump’s use of Twitter is a “bad thing” for the country.

Sixty-two percent of voters said in a Politico/Morning Consult poll released early Thursday they believe Trump’s use of the social media platform is “a bad thing,” which is up 3 points from last year. 

{mosads}Twenty percent of voters said they believe the president’s tweeting is “a good thing,” which is a 3-point decrease from last July. 

Most voters in the new poll agree that Trump uses the platform too much, with 72 percent saying he uses Twitter too frequently. 

Fifty-eight percent of Republicans agree with the sentiment that Trump tweets too much. 

The president has used the platform to communicate a variety of messages to U.S. voters.  

Trump in recent weeks has claimed on Twitter without evidence that the FBI planted a mole in his campaign and sought to spy on his team for political purposes.

He also attacked his own attorney general, Jeff Sessions, on Twitter on Wednesday, saying he wish he had not hired him. 

The Politico/Morning Consult poll was conducted on May 23-29, among 1,995 registered voters. The survey’s margin of error is 2 percentage points.
