Records show Papadopoulos frequently acted as Trump campaign rep
Former Trump campaign foreign policy adviser George Papadopoulos represented the campaign at multiple forums and meetings, despite Trump officials’ recent descriptions of him as “low level” and “the coffee boy.”
Public records on the meetings with Papadopoulos, who pleaded guilty in early October to charges of lying to FBI agents about his ties to Russian officials, were first reported Friday evening by NBC News.
Papadopoulos took part in various public engagements on behalf of the campaign dating back to the Republican National Convention in July 2016, the records show.
The then-adviser appeared on a panel alongside Sen. Bob Corker (R-Tenn.) and Reps. Tom Marino (R-Pa) and Ted Yoho (R-Fla.) for the American Jewish Committee (AJC), according to organizers.
{mosads}”[Papadopoulos] was only one among the many contacts AJC established and maintained among advisers to both parties’ 2016 presidential candidates and in the two parties’ national committees,” AJC spokesperson Ken Bandler said in a statement to NBC News.
Papadopoulos was interviewed by the Russian news agency Interfax as a Trump representative six weeks before Election Day.
He also met with Israeli officials during President Trump’s inauguration, according to The Jerusalem Post.
Unsealed court documents reported by The New York Times revealed that Papadopoulos had pitched a meeting between the campaign and Russian officials.
White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders downplayed Papadopoulos’ role, saying it was “extremely limited.”
Trump also sought to downplay his former advisers’ role, calling him “young” and “low level.”
….came to the campaign. Few people knew the young, low level volunteer named George, who has already proven to be a liar. Check the DEMS!

A former adviser to Trump’s campaign dismissed Papadopoulos as “the coffee boy” who “had nothing to do with the campaign.”
“But in fact, you know, if he was going to wear a wire, all we’d know now is whether he prefers a caramel macchiato over a regular American coffee in conversations with his barista,” Michael Caputo told CNN.
The president said on Friday that he does not not remember much about the former adviser.
