Hollywood mogul Harvey Weinstein has been terminated from his position as co-chairman of The Weinstein Company after allegations of sexual harassment against him were revealed.

“In light of new information about misconduct by Harvey Weinstein that has emerged in the past few days, the directors of The Weinstein Company — Robert Weinstein, Lance Maerov, Richard Koenigsberg and Tarak Ben Ammar — have determined, and informed Harvey Weinstein, that his employment with The Weinstein Company is terminated, effective immediately,” the Weinstein Company Board of Representatives said in a statement Sunday.

The alleged incidents, which reportedly took place over the course of the past few decades, were revealed in a New York Times investigation Thursday.

Actresses Ashley Judd and Rose McGowan were among the women named as victims of Weinstein’s abuse.

Weinstein said he would be taking a leave of absence after the allegations were first reported.

Democratic lawmakers have quickly distanced themselves from Weinstein, a major Democratic donor, after the Times report.

“The difference between Trump, Bill Cosby and Weinstein — none,” Bob Mulholland, a Democratic National Committee member from California, told The Hill.

Nearly a dozen senators, including Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) said they would donate Weinstein’s contributions to their campaign to nonprofits to advocate for women who are survivors of sexual abuse.

The Democratic National Committee also promised to give the money it had received from Weinstein during the past election cycle to political women’s groups. The DNC was criticized for donating the money to political causes and not ones that help female survivors of abuse.
