Crowd at Trump rally brings back ‘lock her up’ chants

Hundreds of supporters of President-elect Donald Trump resurrected the “lock her up” chant at his first rally after defeating Democrat Hillary Clinton in the presidential election.

Before Trump took the stage, the audience erupted into the chant that was a staple at rallies across the country during his campaign.

According to the pool report, and other reporters on the scene, the crowd started with a “drain the swamp” chant before beginning a “lock her up” chant after Ohio Secretary of State Jon Husted criticized efforts to recount votes in swing states.

After Trump took the stage, the crowd cheered and chanted the line again after he said “We did have a lot of fun fighting Hillary, didn’t we?”

Trump, however, has noted that he doesn’t plan to follow through on a pledge made during his campaign to investigate Hillary Clinton.

Last month, Trump said that “it’s not something I’ve given a lot of thought.”

Trump’s top advisers have reiterated that the president-elect is not likely to pursue a criminal case against his former presidential rival.

“What President-elect Trump was saying was that he would rather look forward instead of backwards and that his eyes right now are looking through the windshield, not the rearview mirror,” Trump’s now chief-of-staff Reince Priebus said on Fox News’s “The O’Reilly Factor” in November.

“He’s not looking to, you know, further injure the Clintons, but he’s got the right attitude about America,” Priebus continued.
