Libertarian VP candidate: Talk of defecting for Clinton ‘wishful thinking’

Libertarian vice presidential candidate Bill Weld says he has to intention of dropping from the third-party ticket.

CNN commentator Carl Bernstein said on CNN that sources told him that Weld is “thinking about dropping out of this race if it looks like he and Johnson might get Trump elected” and would “renounce his candidacy and go out and help Hillary Clinton.”

“Gary Johnson and I will campaign with all our strength to make that case to the American people from now until November 8th,” Weld said in a statement to CNN. “Under no circumstances will our energies be diverted from our goal of winning the election and serving our country.”

Weld said talk of him ditching Johnson, the presidential nominee, is “wishful thinking on the part of the two-party duopoly.”
