Trump tells NBC reporter to ‘be quiet’

Donald Trump told NBC’s Katy Tur to be quiet during a Wednesday press conference and then accused the reporter, who has been the network’s main traveling correspondent covering the GOP presidential candidate, of seeking to help Hillary Clinton win the White House.

The fight began when Tur asked Trump if he “had any qualms” about calling on Russia or other foreign governments to release Clinton emails if they had obtained them.

{mosads}“Does that not give you pause?” an incredulous Tur asked Trump.

“Nope. Gives me no pause,” Trump responded. “If they have them, they have them. We might as well find them.”

Tur them repeatedly sought to ask Trump a follow-up question as the two talked over and interrupted one another.

“Be quiet. I know you want to save her,” Trump said. “That a person in our government, Katy, would delete or get rid of 33,000 emails. That gives me a big problem,” he explained. “After she gets a subpoena. She gets subpoenaed, and she gets rid of 33,000 emails … that gives me a problem.”

“And to be honest with you,” he concluded. “I’d love to see them.”

Trump then moved to another reporter.

It’s not the first time Trump and Tur have clashed on the campaign trail. On June 6, Tur took exception to a Trump tweet:

Trump has also called Tur “Little Katy” and “a third-rate journalist.”

On MSNBC shortly after the press conference, host Tamron Hall asked Tur to share her perspective on the dustup but first came to Tur’s defense.

“You’re not making it personal. You’re a journalist, and you’ve been covering the campaign from the beginning,” Hall said. “You have tough skin, but on the day after we saw 102-year-old woman on the floor [of the Democratic convention] applaud the first female nominated to a major party, there you are being told to be quiet by the [Republican] nominee. I’m not asking you to make this personal.”

“Tamron, I’m not good at being quiet, and I won’t continue to be quiet in any way, shape or form,” Tur declared. “I was trying to ask him about encouraging Russia to hack into a system or release emails for anybody in this country, regardless of whether it’s his political opponent.”
