Trump willing to speak with Kim Jong Un
Presumptive GOP nominee Donald Trump said he is willing to speak with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.
“I would speak to him. I would have no problem speaking to him,” Trump said in an interview with Reuters on Tuesday.
{mosads}He said he would engage with the North Korean leader in an effort to stop Pyongyang’s nuclear program.
“At the same time I would put a lot of pressure on China because economically we have tremendous power over China,” he added.
Trump did not give more details about his plan to deal with North Korea.
China is the only close ally of Pyongyang and provides the regime with economic support. Trump’s openness would mark a major shift from how the U.S. and allies deal with Pyongyang. Most international powers have slapped sanctions on the country because of its nuclear and missile tests.
