Clinton laughs after Republican asks if she was home alone all night

A House Republican scolded Hillary Clinton after she laughed at a question about whether she was alone the night of the 2012 terrorist attacks in Benghazi, Libya.

More than nine hours into Clinton’s appearance Thursday before the House Select Committee on Benghazi, Rep. Martha Roby (R-Ala.) asked the former secretary of State a series of questions about the night of the attacks.

{mosads}“Who else was at your home? Were you alone?” Roby asked.

“I was alone, yes,” Clinton replied.

After Roby asked, “The whole night?” Clinton laughed as she responded, “Yes, the whole night.”

“I don’t know why that’s funny,” the Republican chided. “Did you have any in-person briefings? I don’t find it funny at all.”

Still chuckling, Clinton responded, “I’m sorry, a little note of levity at 7:15. Note it for the record.”

Roby continued to press, saying Americans were in danger in Benghazi late into the night in 2012, “so I don’t think it’s funny to ask if you’re alone the whole night.”

Clinton insisted that she had the needed equipment at home to stay in close contact with State Department officials.

“I did not sleep all night. I was very much focused on what we were doing,” she said.
