Trump, Fox chief Roger Ailes to meet

Donald Trump and Fox News chairman Roger Ailes plan to meet next week to discuss the network’s coverage of the billionaire businessman’s 2016 presidential campaign, according to the network.

A Fox representative said Thursday afternoon that the pair spoke earlier in the day and will discuss their differences of opinion about the network’s coverage when they meet.

{mosads}The meeting comes days after Trump reignited his feud with Fox, which appeared to have been settled after controversy following the first GOP presidential debate on Fox News early last month.

“Fox News Chairman & CEO Roger Ailes and Donald Trump spoke this morning and plan to have a meeting next week to discuss their differences of opinion regarding Fox’s coverage of Mr. Trump’s presidential campaign. Ailes will be joined by senior Fox editorial executives,” the Fox representative said in a statement shared with The Hill.

“Mr. Trump believes he has been treated unfairly in certain instances. FOX News has held every candidate in this race to the highest journalistic standards throughout our coverage. We believe a candid meeting about our differences is required and that any misunderstandings can be handled without compromising those standards,” the representative added.

Trump maintained during a pair of phone interviews on MSNBC and CNN on Thursday morning that he had been unfairly treated by Fox.

On Wednesday, he said he would not appear on the network “for the foreseeable future” after targeting content from hosts Megyn Kelly and Bill O’Reilly in tweets earlier in the week.

Fox attributed Trump’s moratorium on interviews on the network to it canceling Trump’s scheduled interview Thursday evening on O’Reilly’s program.

A Trump representative did not immediately return a request for comment about the meeting.
