Top State official leaving after Iran talks
Wendy Sherman, the undersecretary for political affairs at the State Department, will leave her post after the Iran nuclear talks complete, CNN reports.
“Wendy has been an absolutely critical member of my team, most notably in her work spearheading the nuclear negotiations with Iran, but on nearly every important issue that has crossed my desk,” Secretary of State John Kerry said in a statement, according to CNN.
{mosads}Sherman served in the department as a special adviser on North Korea policy in Bill Clinton’s presidency, and returned to State when Hillary Clinton was the department’s secretary.
She has been the director of EMILY’s List, a pro-choice political group, and president and CEO of the Fannie Mae Foundation. She also worked in the office of Sen. Barbara Mikulski (D-Md.) when Mikulski was a representative.
Sherman will join Kerry in Switzerland for another round of nuclear talks with Iran this weekend, according to CNN.
