Romney campaign running anti-Obama billboards in Florida
{mosads}Earlier this month, Obama told a crowd at a campaign event in Virginia: “If you’ve got a business, you didn’t build that. Somebody else made that happen.”
Romney and other Republicans have hit Obama hard over the remark, claiming he values “the collective” over the hardworking individual. Obama addressed the criticism in a TV ad released by his campaign, saying his words were taken out of context.
“Of course Americans build their own businesses,” Obama says in the ad. “Every day, hardworking people sacrifice to meet a payroll, create jobs and make our economy run.”
The billboards will be up Wednesday and Thursday, greeting Obama during his campaign trip to Orlando, where he plans to deliver a speech on his “vision to restore middle-class economic security” on Thursday afternoon.
The Tampa Bay Times has a photo of one billboard lit up at night.
