Ann Romney: Mitt still undecided on veep

Mitt Romney still remains undecided on whom to pick for his running mate, his wife, Ann, told ABC News in an interview set to air Thursday.

“We’re not quite there yet,” Ann Romney said. “We are certainly talking a lot. This last week, this last weekend, there was a lot of discussion.”

Romney’s remarks came after speculation that the presumptive Republican nominee would name a running mate before departing for a foreign tour next week that includes stops at the Olympic Games in London and fundraisers in Israel.

{mosads}Ann Romney did say that the decision would be coming “soon.”

“There was a lot of talk. We’re not quite there yet. And we’re going to be there soon,” she said.

Ann Romney said she wasn’t sure which way her husband was leaning. Speculation has focused in recent weeks on Sen. Rob Portman (R-Ohio), former Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty and Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal (R).

Ann Romney said she hoped her husband picks someone who shares the same attributes that he would bring to the presidency.

“I was thinking of passion for this country, being able to serve, being able to have experience, real experience, being able to be ready Day One,” Ann Romney said. “Actually, if you think about it, there’s a lot of people that fit under that umbrella.”

Ann Romney added that she did not know when an announcement would be made. The Romney campaign has only said that a choice will be revealed before the Republican convention begins on Aug. 27 in Tampa.

“I’ll wait and see, too, what Mitt is going to decide,” she said. “I have no knowledge of what, when, or who is going to be coming down the road. So, I’ll stay tuned with you.”
