April Ryan gets first question at Spicer press conference

White House press secretary Sean Spicer called on American Urban Radio Networks correspondent April Ryan to kick off his Wednesday press briefing, the day after they got into a heated spat.

“Why, thank you, Sean,” Ryan said after her name was called.

“How are you today?” Spicer.

“I’m fine, how are you?” she responded.

{mosads}”Fantastic,” he said.

The spokesman chided the veteran reporter’s body language during a heated response to a question about Russia during Tuesday’s briefing, which was broadcast live on cable television and provoked a heated debate.

“At some point, report the facts. Every single person who has been briefed on this subject has come away with the same conclusion — Republican, Democrat,” Spicer told Ryan. “I’m sorry that that disgusts you. You’re shaking your head.”

Spicer also defiantly laughed off the notion that associates of President Trump colluded with Russia, saying that “if the president puts Russian salad dressing on his salad tonight, somehow that’s a Russian connection.”

Ryan told CNN earlier Wednesday that she was shaking her in “disbelief” after the spokesman accused her of having “an agenda.”

“I was just asking a question, trying to get an answer and I found myself trying to defend myself,” she said.

Ryan’s question at the White House on Wednesday was also about the House Intelligence Committee’s Russian hacking investigation — specifically Chairman Devin Nunes’s (R-Calif.) refusal to recuse himself in light of evidence he may have coordinated with Trump administration officials.
