MLK’s granddaughter at march: ‘I have a dream that enough is enough’

The 9-year-old granddaughter of civil rights hero Martin Luther King Jr. addressed hundreds of thousands of attendees at the Washington, D.C., “March for Our Lives” on Saturday.

Yolanda Renee King spoke at the rally, invoking her grandfather’s words in her call for gun control.

“My grandfather had a dream that his four little children would not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character,” she said. “I have a dream that enough is enough, and that this should be a gun-free world, period.”

King led the crowd in a call-and-response chant: “Spread the word. Have you heard? All across the nation. We are going to be a great generation.”

{mosads}The D.C. march was just one of more than 800 that took place around the world on Saturday.

In every U.S. state, students gathered to demand congressional action on gun control and school safety. In sibling marches on every continent except Antarctica, young people marched in solidarity with the U.S. students.

The “March for Our Lives” was organized by survivors of the February school shooting in Parkland, Fla.
