Former presidents fundraise for Irma disaster relief
A campaign launched by all five of the former living United States presidents has added Hurricane Irma to its fundraising appeal for disaster relief.
The campaign, titled “One America Appeal,” will also contribute funds to the Florida Disaster Fund in addition to relief for Hurricane Harvey, which hit Texas and Louisiana last month.
{mosads}The campaign also includes another public service announcement that will air all of Sunday and Monday morning during the National Football League telecasts.
“Recently, our country has witnessed catastrophic devastation. Hurricanes and flooding have upended lives and livelihoods,” former President Barack Obama says in the ad.
The “One America Appeal” campaign was announced last week and is a joint effort that includes former Presidents Jimmy Carter, George H.W. Bush, Bill Clinton, George W. Bush and Barack Obama. President Trump also tweeted support for the campaign.
“One hundred percent of funds donated to the Florida Disaster Fund will go toward disaster-related response and recovery because the fund has no overhead costs,” the campaign said in a press release.
