Trump in testy exchange with Univision anchor: ‘I have a bigger heart than you do’

Donald Trump and Univision anchor Jorge Ramos had a testy exchange during a press conference on Tuesday evening in Dubuque, Iowa, several minutes after Ramos was initially escorted out of the room.

The Republican presidential candidate had requested that the Hispanic journalist be removed from the press event for attempting to ask a question out of turn.

{mosads}Ramos was eventually allowed back in, at which point he was called on by Trump and allowed to ask about the businessman’s immigration policies.

“Here’s the problem with your immigration plan: It’s full of empty promises,” Ramos told Trump. “You cannot deport 11 million undocumented immigrants, you cannot deny citizenship to the children in this country.”

“A woman is getting ready to have a baby, she crosses the border for one day, all of a sudden for the next eighty years … we have to take care of the people,” Trump fired back.

The two continued to exchange sharp accusations at each other for several minutes.

“How are you going to deport 11 million?” Ramos later asked “Are you going to bring the army?”

“We’re going to do it in a very humane way,” Trump replied. “I have a bigger heart than you do.”

The real estate mogul moved on to other questions before returning to Ramos toward the end of the news conference.

“Do you know how many Hispanics work for me? Thousands,” Trump declared. “You know how many Hispanics have worked for me over the years? Tens of thousands.”

Trump and Ramos went back and forth for a few more rounds before Trump ended the Q & A with a promise of more to come.

“We’re going to be talking a lot over the years,” Trump told Ramos.
