Jeb doesn’t question Obama’s ‘motives’

A spokeswoman for former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush (R) said the likely 2016 contender does not question President Obama’s “motives,” in response to the controversy over Rudy Giuliani’s comments that the president does not love America.

{mosads}”Governor Bush doesn’t question President Obama’s motives,” Bush spokeswoman Kristy Campbell told Talking Points Memo. “He does question President Obama’s disastrous policies.”

Giuliani drew criticism this week with his remarks, which were made at a dinner held for Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker (R).

“He doesn’t love you. And he doesn’t love me. He wasn’t brought up the way you were brought up, and I was brought up through love of this country,” Giuliani said.

He later clarified that he believed the president was a patriot, but that he didn’t articulate his love of country as other presidents have.

Other possible 2016 presidential contenders have weighed in the comments as well. 

“Democrats aren’t asked to answer every time Joe Biden says something embarrassing, so I don’t know why I should answer every time a Republican does,” Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) said Friday.

“I’ll suffice it to say that I believe the president loves America; I think his ideas are bad.”
