NJ poll: Clinton leads Christie by 10 points
Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton continues to lead New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (R) in a hypothetical presidential match-up in his home state, according to a Quinnipiac poll.
The survey, released Wednesday, finds 50 percent would support Clinton if the 2016 election were held today, while 40 percent would support Christie.
{mosads}The numbers are largely unchanged from polling over the summer in a state typically dominated by Democrats in presidential elections.
Christie’s rating is slightly above water, with 46 percent approving of his performance and 45 percent disapproving. However, that rating is near an all-time low for the governor, and far from his rating ahead of the 2013 election, when nearly 70 percent of voters in the state had a positive opinion of him.
His rating among men stands at 51 percent, while 43 percent of women approve of him.
While 82 percent of Republicans approve of the governor’s job performance, 48 percent of independents feel the same.
The poll surveyed 1,475 people from Sept. 25-29 and has a margin of error of plus or minus 2.6 percent.
