GOP lawmaker says Pelosi showdown was ‘walk in the park’

Rep. Tom Marino (R-Pa.) said his confrontation with House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) was a “walk in the park” compared to being threatened by murderers. 

Pelosi crossed the House floor on Friday to have words with Marino after he put blame on Democrats for the border crisis because they did not pass immigration reform while Pelosi was Speaker.

{mosads}“I was a state prosecutor and U.S. attorney and I’ve been threatened by drug dealers and organized crime and murderers and this was a walk in the park,” Marino said Monday on Fox News. “I’m not going to put up with this. 

“She came up to me wagging her finger and saying that I was a liar and I simply said ‘No, I do my research I have my facts straight, perhaps you should try that,’” Marino said.

Marino said Pelosi called him “insignificant.”

“I simply said to her, ‘Do you want to talk about this in the back?’ and she said ‘no,’” Marino said. “She was visibly shaken.”

“There are some people in Congress who think they are royalty,” Marino added. 

Pelosi spokeswoman Evangeline George said on Friday that Pelosi “just wanted to remind the congressman that House Democrats had the courage to pass the DREAM Act — and have the courage to stand up for what the American people want: bipartisan, comprehensive immigration reform.”  

Rep. John Larson (D-Conn.) said Friday the exchange wasn’t physical.

“It could have been, but I think people got there [first],” he said.

Marino later came over to shake Pelosi’s hand.

He closed the interview on Monday, however, with a shot at her.

“What happened there is a prime example of why we need term limits,” he said.
