Bob Kerrey gets help from Majority PAC in Nebraska race
Majority PAC, a super-PAC working to keep the Senate in Democratic control, is helping fund a group working on behalf of former Sen. Bob Kerrey (D-Neb.), The Hill has learned.
The End the Gridlock super-PAC is currently running television ads in Nebraska attacking Kerrey’s opponent, Nebraska state Sen. Debra Fischer (R), with plans to ad a radio commercial ripping her record next week.
{mosads}Majority PAC is helping to pay for the ad campaign, which so far has cost more than $300,000, though it’s unclear how much money it is providing to the group.
Kerrey is a long shot to return to Congress. Nebraska has moved increasingly toward the GOP since the last time he won an election there, in 1994, and he’s spent the last decade living in New York City, an easy line of attack for Republicans in the state. A number of those backing End the Gridlock are based in New York, an unhelpful detail for Kerrey.
Polls show Fischer leading him by double-digit margins. But the group’s support is a sign that Democrats may not have given up on the race, which The Hill rates “Likely Republican.”
