McCain to meet with supporters post-midterms on reelection

Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) is reportedly planning to meet with supporters just after the midterm election to discuss his future political plans.

{mosads}The Arizona Republic is reporting McCain sent an email to supporters inviting them to a breakfast on Nov. 6, the Thursday after the midterm elections, to discuss “the 2014 election results, what they mean for the future of our state and the country, world affairs and anything else on your mind.”

“I also plan to discuss my thoughts on my own re-election in 2016,” McCain wrote in the email.

The five-term senator has not yet indicated whether he plans to run for a sixth, but he has sounded like he’s leaning toward it. He recently told reporters the odds of him running for reelection “are pretty good.”

If he does decide to try for another term, he’s expected to face a fierce primary challenge from the right.
