Jeb Bush gives nod to Brown’s Senate bid

Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush (R) expressed support Monday for Scott Brown’s (R) Senate bid in New Hampshire.

Bush, a potential presidential contender in 2016, posted a photo on Twitter with Brown and members of Brown’s family.

Earlier this month, Mitt Romney, the 2012 Republican presidential nominee, also endorsed Brown. Romney has endorsed several other GOP primary candidates during this election cycle.

Brown announced his Senate campaign in April, challenging Democratic incumbent Sen. Jeanne Shaheen. Brown previously served in the Senate for Massachusetts, but was defeated by Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) in 2012.

Brown will face former Sen. Bob Smith (R-N.H.) and former state Sen. Jim Rubens in the GOP primary Sept. 9. He is expected to beat his Republican competitors.

A WMUR/University of New Hampshire poll last week suggested Shaheen has doubled her lead over Brown, leading by 12 percentage points. The survey found 50 percent of New Hampshire voters backed Shaheen; 38 percent backed Brown.
