Cassidy to tout O-Care opposition in first ad

Rep. Bill Cassidy (R-La.) will focus on his efforts opposing ObamaCare in his first ad, to launch next week.

According to The Associated Press, the campaign will launch the ad on a $150,000 buy in the New Orleans area next week. In it, Cassidy, a physician, addresses the camera in his doctor’s coat while holding a copy of the bill, decrying lawmakers who didn’t read it.

{mosads}“It affects your job, your pocketbook, your life. And they didn’t read it. I read the bill. It was clear there’d be canceled plans, expensive premiums, no guarantee that you could keep your doctor. I voted no,” Cassidy says.

He adds: “I say replace ObamaCare with a plan that gives the power to you, not to politicians and bureaucrats.”

Cassidy is the most prominent Republican taking on vulnerable Sen. Mary Landrieu (D-La.) this fall. Two other Republicans, including retired Air Force Col. Rob Maness, who has picked up some traction with national conservative groups, are also running for the seat.

Republicans have made opposition to the healthcare law central to their attacks on Landrieu, as both it and President Obama remain unpopular in Louisiana.

She’s faced a barrage of attacks from outside groups focused on ObamaCare and, to a lesser extent, Obama’s energy policies, and polling has shown her approval rating slipping over the past few months.
