Clinton: Trump is Putin’s ‘puppet’
Hillary Clinton called Donald Trump the “puppet” of Russian President Vladimir Putin as the two presidential nominees sparred in one of their biggest clashes during the final presidential debate in Las Vegas.
{mosads}While discussing the recent email hacks that have been published by WikiLeaks, Clinton addressed Russia’s alleged interference in the presidential election and continued to blast Trump’s past comments about Putin.
Trump reiterated that he doesn’t have a relationship with Putin, despite previous praise from the GOP nominee.
“I don’t know Putin,” Trump said. “He said nice things about me. If we got along well, that would be good.”
“He has no respect for her. He has no respect for our president, and I’ll tell you what — we’re in very serious trouble because we have a country with tremendous numbers of nuclear warheads,” he continued. “From everything I see has no respect for this person.”
Clinton quickly hit back, chiding Trump that the Russian leader would rather have a “puppet” in the White House and delivering one of the more memorable lines of the debate.
“Well that’s because he’d rather have a puppet as president,” Clinton said, as Trump interjected by hitting back, “You’re the puppet.”
The former secretary of State pivoted back to Russia’s influence in the election and went through a laundry list of attacks against Trump.
“It’s pretty clear the Russians have engaged in cyber attacks against the United States of America, that you encouraged espionage against our people, that you are willing to spout the Putin line, sign up for his wish list, break up NATO, do whatever he wants to do and that you continue to get help from him because he has a very clear favorite in this race.”
