Trump campaign touts child care plan in new ad

Donald Trump’s campaign on Tuesday released a new TV ad touting his proposals to lower child care costs and improve maternity leave policies.

{mosads}The 30-second ad, titled “Listening,” features a Trump supporter talking about her struggle to pay for child care.

“I love being a mom. But no matter how hard we work, we can’t get ahead,” the woman says at the beginning of the ad.

“Child care costs have us stuck. Donald Trump is listening.”

The video mixes in clips of the Republican presidential nominee outlining his proposal for six weeks of paid maternity leave for new mothers, as well as footage of Trump next to his daughter Ivanka.

“My child care plan allows for every family in America to deduct their child care expenses from their income taxes,” Trump says in the video.

“His child care plan make a difference for working families,” the Trump supporter adds. “More money, more freedom. He’s helping Americans just like us.”

The ad will air nationally and will be heavily rotated in battleground states, according to the Trump campaign.

In a statement, Trump’s deputy communications director, Jessica Ditto, said the GOP nominee is listening to families who are having a hard time affording quality child care and criticized Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton’s proposals.

“Mr. Trump’s groundbreaking childcare affordability plan will provide immediate financial relief to parents and families,” Ditto said in a statement.

“On November 8th, the American people have a choice for President in Donald J. Trump that will result in common sense solutions to Make America Great Again, and an improvement over the empty rhetoric of Hillary Clinton and the failed Democratic policies of the past 30 years.”
