Pro-Clinton group putting $10 million behind anti-Trump ad
The largest super PAC supporting Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign is putting $10 million behind a TV ad hitting Donald Trump for mocking a reporter with a disability.
{mosads}In “Dante,” 17-year-old Dante Latchman from Nevada talks about a rare form of cancer in his spine.
“I don’t want a president who makes fun of me,” Latchman says, referring to the Republican nominee’s comments toward reporter Serge Kovaleski.
Kovaleski has arthrogryposis, which impairs the movements in his arm. And last November, Trump received criticism for mocking the reporter at a rally, contorting his arms in an apparent imitation.
“I want a president who inspires me. And that’s not Donald Trump,” Latchman says in the ad.
The ad is the largest buy this campaign cycle for the Democratic group and will air in Ohio, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Florida, Nevada, Iowa, New Hampshire and Colorado. The ad first aired online.
“Donald Trump’s mocking of someone with a disability was a troubling look into who he is as a person and proof that he lacks the character and temperament necessary to be President of the United States. Following the debate we’ve seen exactly who Donald Trump is, a man who mocks the disabled, body shames young women, and leaves no question that he’s temperamentally unfit to be president,” said Guy Cecil, Chief Strategist at Priorities USA.
“Throughout his career and campaign, Donald Trump has repeatedly ridiculed and marginalized people who are different than him, and that’s not what America is about, and it’s not what this country needs from a president.”
