Poll: Trump leads Clinton by 3 points in NC
Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump has a 3-point lead over Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton in North Carolina, according to a Suffolk University poll released Thursday.
{mosads}Trump is favored by 44 percent of likely voters in the state, and Clinton is backed by 41 percent.
Libertarian nominee Gary Johnson has the support of 4 percent of voters, and another 8 percent are undecided.
Trump has an advantage among men, 53 percent to 32 percent, while Clinton leads among women, 49 percent to 36 percent.
Clinton also leads among African-American voters, 84 percent to 7 percent. Trump has an advantage among white voters, 57 percent to 28 percent.
When voters were asked who they think will win in November, 49 percent of respondents said Clinton and just 33 percent said Trump. Another 17 percent were undecided.
Voters said the No. 1 issue facing the next president is jobs and the economy, followed by terrorism and national security, and then choosing Supreme Court nominees.
The poll was conducted from Sept. 5 to 7 among 500 likely voters. The margin of error is 4.4 percentage points.
According to the RealClearPolitics average of polls in North Carolina, Clinton has a 0.5-point lead over Trump, 44.3 percent to 43.8 percent.
