Dwyane Wade, the NBA star whose cousin was killed in Chicago last week, said GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump’s response to the shooting left a “bad taste in my mouth.”

{mosads}”You know, it’s like, on one hand, your cousin’s death is used as a ploy for political gain,” Wade told ABC’s George Stephanopoulos Friday.

But, he added, it’s a national story and “I want eyes on this city.”

The Bulls star said he was “grateful” the death of Nykea Aldridge started a conversation but the tweet left a “bad taste in my mouth because of, you know, what my family is dealing with, and what our city of Chicago is dealing with, and it looks like it’s being used as a political gain.”

Aldridge was caught in a crossfire and shot in the head and arm while leaving a school in Chicago last week.

Trump responded in a way that many saw as self-congratulatory and inappropriate.

“Dwayne [sic] Wade’s cousin was just shot and killed walking her baby in Chicago. Just what I have been saying. African-Americans will VOTE TRUMP!” he tweeted, misspelling the athlete’s name.
