Joe Scarborough labels Trump ‘Amnesty Don’

MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough on Monday hit on Donald Trump for his apparent immigration shift, repeatedly labeling the GOP presidential nominee as “Amnesty Don.”
{mosads}”For 14 months, Amnesty Don has been putting illegal immigration at the center of Amnesty Don’s campaign,” Scarborough said on “Morning Joe.”
“And yet nobody in Amnesty Don’s own campaign can tell you what Amnesty Don’s position is.”
Trump had previously expressed support for a force to deport the 11 million undocumented immigrants in the country.
“But now Amnesty Don is softening. … So now Amnesty Don this weekend, even Amnesty Don’s own people, surrogates, don’t know what Amnesty Don’s going to do on this,” Scarborough said.
Scarborough then mockingly asked: “Isn’t it surprising that some people are calling him Amnesty Don?”
The comments come amid an escalating feud between the “Morning Joe” hosts and the Republican nominee. Trump has previously claimed the hosts have treated him unfairly.
Trump last week said he would be open to “softening” of the immigration laws. Trump and his campaign have repeatedly sought to clarify his position on the issue over the last week.
Trump’s running mate, Indiana Gov. Mike Pence, on Sunday emphasized the GOP nominee’s position on immigration had not changed. He said Trump’s immigration proposals include building a wall, enforcing existing laws and ending sanctuary cities. He also said the ticket would have a “mechanism for dealing with people in this country” and said there would be no path to legalization or citizenship unless people leave the country.
Scarborough on Monday also tweeted in support of the hashtag #AmnestyDon.
