Trump to deliver immigration speech in Arizona next week

Donald Trump will deliver a policy speech on immigration in Arizona next week amid rumblings the Republican presidential nominee is shifting his stance on the issue.

{mosads}Trump will speak in Phoenix next Wednesday at the Hyatt Regency, according to The Arizona Republic. Because of the size of the venue, only 500 people will be allowed inside, the Republic reports.

The speech had previously been scheduled for this Thursday in Colorado, but Trump’s campaign announced that it would be postponed, pinning that and two other cancelled rallies on a schedule change due to his visit to flood-ravaged Louisiana.

Trump’s Phoenix visit will be his fifth stop in the state, the Republic noted.

Trump has faced fire in recent days from far-right conservatives who worry he is softening his stance on immigration, specifically how to address undocumented immigrants already in the U.S. While Trump launched his campaign off a promise to deport all 11 million of the country’s undocumented immigrants, he appears to be shifting his tone.

In a Fox News interview set to air Wednesday night, Trump said he doesn’t support amnesty but would “work with” those already here.

Trump’s new campaign manager Kellyanne Conway Sunday declined to say whether the GOP nominee still backs a deportation force to remove the millions of undocumented immigrants in the U.S.

“What he supports is to make sure that we enforce the law, that we are respectful of those Americans who are looking for well-paying jobs, and that we are fair and humane for those who live among us in this country,” Conway said on CNN’s “State of the Union.”
