Assange: DNC leaks weren’t intended to harm Clinton
WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange on Saturday pushed back on accusations that he published the emails of Democratic Party leaders to harm Hillary Clinton.
{mosads}A trove of emails released by WikiLeaks last month showed Democratic National Committee officials apparently planning to undermine Bernie Sanders in his campaign against Clinton for the party’s presidential nomination.
“When we published the DNC leaks, the New York Times, which picked its favorite candidate … said that I intended to harm Hillary Clinton,” Assange told the Green Party’s convention via video feed Saturday.
“This is what we’ve been doing for 10 years. It was a completely fabricated story,” he added.
“We are very interested in power and publishing the truth about power so people can work out however they choose so they can reform power.”
