Sanders: ‘I hope that I made you proud’
Bernie Sanders on Tuesday expressed his appreciation for people across the country who supported his presidential campaign.
{mosads}”I cannot say with words how appreciative Jane and I are of the kindness, dedication and love we experienced from so many people across the country. We are deeply touched by it and will never, ever forget it,” he said in a Facebook Post.
“I hope that I made you proud. I know that Jane and I are very proud of you.”
The Vermont senator endorsed Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton last month, ahead of the Democratic National Convention held last week.
At the convention, Sanders gave a speech in support of Clinton and moved for Democrats to choose her as the party’s presidential nominee in a gesture that was meant to unite the party heading into the general election.
The Facebook post Tuesday received 48,000 likes and 3,400 comments as of 4 p.m.
Several people responded to the Vermont senator, thanking him for the work he did during his campaign. Facebook users said Sanders knew the “meaning of public service” and expressed their appreciation for his “effort,” “integrity” and “dedication.”
