Donald Trump’s former campaign manager, Corey Lewandowski, lost out on a $1.2 million book deal over a non-disclosure agreement he signed with the presumptive Republican presidential nominee, according to Politico.

{mosads}Lewandowski had reportedly been offered the sum by publisher HarperCollins at some point before mid-May but then backed out when Buzzfeed reported the deal.

Lewandowski denied the Buzzfeed report at the time, tweeting, “Despite false reports to the contrary, I am not writing a book. I am under a strict confidentiality agreement with Mr. Trump.”

After he was fired from the campaign earlier this month, however, Lewandowski used a go-between to contact HarperCollins and revive their negotiations.

But when Lewandowski refused to allow the publisher to review the non-disclosure agreement, the company backed out of the talks.

CNN, who hired Lewandowski to be a pro-Trump pundit, has come under fire for bringing on someone who might be contractually prohibited from being honest about his dealings with Trump.

Lewandowski denied the rumors of a book deal to Politico.

“I’m not shopping a book deal,” he said, adding that he doesn’t have someone negotiating on his behalf. “I would negotiate my own deal if I was looking for one.”
