Poll: Most don’t think Clinton nomination is historic

Less than half of Americans think Hillary Clinton becoming the first woman to be nominated for president by a major political party is historic, according to a Morning Consult poll released Tuesday.

{mosads}Thirty-eight percent said Clinton’s nomination was a “historic moment,” and 12 percent said that she is the most historic nominee in the nation’s history.

Just 22 percent called her nomination a step forward for the country, while 28 percent called it a step backward.

Twenty-nine percent said Clinton’s nomination made them more proud to be an American, while 22 percent said it made them feel less proud. Forty percent said it had no effect.

The survey polled 1,362 voters from June 8 to 9. It has a margin of error of 3 percentage points.
