Walker: Trump should renounce comments about judge

Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker (R) said voters have been given “poor choices” for president, adding that presumptive GOP nominee Donald Trump should renounce comments he made about a judge overseeing lawsuits against Trump University.

{mosads}”It’s just sad in America that we have such poor choices right now,” Walker, who dropped his own White House bid last September, said in an interview with WKOW-TV in Madison, Wis., that was first reported by Politico

“[Trump] is not yet the nominee. Officially that won’t happen until the middle of July and so for me that’s kind of the timeframe,” Walker said. “In particular I want to make sure that he renounces what he says, at least in regards to this judge.”

Trump called Judge Gonzalo Curiel’s “Mexican heritage” a conflict of interest that makes it impossible for him to rule fairly. Several party leaders have called out Trump for his comments.

Walker had previously said he would back the Republican nominee, “whoever that is.”

The Wisconsin governor also took shots during the interview at the presumptive Democratic nominee, saying Hillary Clinton “put America’s national security at risk.”

“So we’ve got someone who has systematically lied to the American people and in doing so, in some ways has actually put America’s national security at risk,” Walker said. “And someone who at least of late has been saying things that run directly at odds with our core beliefs and principles in this country.”
