Libertarian VP candidate doubles down on comparison of Trump, Nazis

William Weld, a Libertarian Party vice presidential candidate, is doubling down on his comparison of Donald Trump’s plan to deport millions of illegal immigrants to Nazi Germany.

{mosads}“I’m absolutely certain that, as we said in those years, if we don’t remember, we will absolutely forget,” Weld said in an interview with CNN’s Jake Tapper Sunday on “State of the Union.”

“You’ve got to forget a lot of things to think it’s a good idea to round up and deport 11 million people living peacefully, most of them working in America, in the middle of the night.”

The former Massachusetts governor made waves last week when he compared the presumptive GOP presidential nominee’s immigration plan to Kristallnacht, when Nazis torched synagogues, vandalized Jewish homes and killed close to 100 Jews.

“I can hear the glass crunching on Kristallnacht in the ghettos of Warsaw and Vienna when I hear that, honest,” Weld told The New York Times.

Weld is running with former New Mexico Gov. Gary Johnson for the nomination to the Libertarian ticket.
