Trump campaign to begin vetting VP picks next week: report
Vetting for Donald Trump’s potential running mates could begin next week, according to CNN.
{mosads}Surrogate Ben Carson told the Washington Post last week that Ohio Gov. John Kasich, Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.), Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas), former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin and New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie were on the list of contenders.
Trump soon after debunked that list, saying few, if any, of those were being considered.
Other names floated include New Mexico Gov. Susana Martinez, former Speaker Newt Gingrich, Florida Gov. Rick Scott, Rep. Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.) and South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley.
Trump will also meet with Sen. Bob Corker (R-Tenn.) Monday in New York, feeding speculation that he is a contender for the position.
