Clinton holds 11-point lead in New York poll
Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton leads rival Bernie Sanders by 11 points in New York, according to a new Public Policy Polling survey.
Clinton has 51 percent support in the state, with Sanders taking 40 percent. Clinton also has an advantage among women, 57 to 34 percent, while Sanders leads among men, 47 to 44 percent.
{mosads}Clinton also holds large leads among Hispanics, 66 to 28 percent, and African Americans, 61 to 32 percent.
Sanders is ahead among younger voters, 56 to 40 percent and Clinton has a large edge among seniors, 63 to 27 percent.
Among white voters, Clinton has a small edge, 47 to 43 percent.
It’s the latest poll to show Clinton in strong position ahead of New York’s April 19th Democratic primary.
A Quinnipiac University poll also released Tuesday showed Clinton ahead of Sanders 53 to 40 percent.
Clinton has a 13.7 point lead in New York over Sanders, according to the RealClearPolitics average of polls. Clinton has 53 percent support compared to Sanders at 39.3 percent.
Sanders has won seven of the last eight voting contests, but still trails well bhind Clinton in delegates.
The PPP survey was conducted from April 7-10 and included 663 likely Democratic primary voters. The margin of error for the Democrats is 3.8 percent.
