Sanders: Clinton should apologize to victims of Iraq War

Democratic presidential hopeful Bernie Sanders lashed out at front-runner Hillary Clinton on Wednesday over her support for the invasion of Iraq in 2003.

{mosads}A CBS reporter tweeted that she asked the Vermont senator about Clinton’s calls for him to apologize to Sandy Hook victims because of his stance against holding gun manufacturers liable for gun crimes. Sanders reportedly responded by saying that Clinton should apologize to the victims of the Iraq War, which she voted in favor of as a senator.

The back-and-forth on these issues is familiar for the two candidates. Sanders has repeatedly hit Clinton over her stance on the war, while the former secretary of State often attacks Sanders’s record on gun rights.

However, the intensity with which the two are raising the issues is new and reflects the escalating tensions in the race.

In an interview with the New York Daily News this week, Sanders said that he doesn’t believe that victims of gun violence should be able to sue the company that made the gun.

“In the same sense that if you’re a gun dealer, and you sell me a gun, and I go out and I kill him,” Sanders said. “Do I think that that gun dealer should be sued for selling me a legal product that I misused?”

He added, “But I do believe that gun manufacturers and gun dealers should be able to be sued when they should know that guns are going into the hands of wrong people.”

And on Wednseday the Daily News lashed out at the candidate over his response on their front page.
