Trump dominates Google, Twitter on Super Tuesday

Trump has the lion’s share of user interest in the Republican presidential field.

Donald Trump is dominating the attention of Google and Twitter users talking about the GOP race on Super Tuesday.

Trump is the subject of nearly 79 percent of Google searches about Republican White House hopefuls over the last 24 hours, according to data provided to The Associated Press.

{mosads}The GOP front-runner also appears in 80 percent of Twitter mentions about the race over the same time period.

Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) ranks second on Google, but is well behind Trump with 9.9 percent of searches. Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) comes third at 7.4 percent, retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson at 2.2 percent and Gov. John Kasich (R-Ohio) accounts for 1.8 percent of Google searches.

Cruz is Trump’s closest competition on Twitter, with 9.9 percent of the conversation, followed by Rubio at 9.4 percent, and with Carson and Kasich each under 1 percent.

Healthcare is the most searched issue on Google over the last 24 hours, according to AP, accounting for 4.3 percent of issue searches.

Twitter users, meanwhile, are more focused on energy and the environment, with about 23 percent of the social media network’s conversations spotlighting that topic over the same time frame.

Voters in 11 states and American Samoa are casting ballots on Super Tuesday.

Trump remains the Republican presidential front-runner with a nearly 16-point lead over his rivals nationally, according to the latest RealClearPolitics average of polls.
