Clinton has ‘no response’ to ‘enabler’ question

Democratic presidential front-runner Hillary Clinton has declined to respond to GOP rival Donald Trump’s charge that she has served as an “enabler” of her husband Bill Clinton’s past infidelity.

“I have no response,” Clinton told CNN’s Alisyn Camerota in an interview aired Tuesday evening on “Out Front.”

{mosads}“I am going to let him say whatever he wants to say. He can run his campaign however he wishes. I’m going to keep talking about what the next president will have to do starting Jan. 20, 2017,” Clinton said

Clinton then slammed Trump over his tax plans, saying they would benefit the wealthy, and arguing that Trump “doesn’t believe in equal pay.”

“Don’t you need to respond to it?” Camerota pressed Clinton again about Trump’s accusation.

Clinton demurred, saying, “I’m gonna let the voters decide what’s relevant and not relevant in their decision as to who they’re going to support.”

Trump for weeks has bashed the Clintons over Bill’s sexual history. He charged during an interview Sunday that Hillary was “not a victim” but “an enabler” of her husband.

While Clinton has herself declined to respond to Trump’s attacks directly, her allies have pushed back on the businessman, including a senior campaign aide who blasted Trump on Tuesday for going “in the gutter.”

The former secretary of State was also asked by CNN about possibly facing Trump in a general election.

“It would be amazing!” Clinton said, laughing. “And I would look forward to it.”

Her response adds ammunition to Trump’s GOP rivals, such as Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas), who have argued that Clinton wants to face the billionaire, viewing him as a weaker general election challenger.

Clinton also brushed off claim from her Democratic challenger Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) that her campaign is in “serious trouble.”

Clinton told CNN that she feels “really, really good” about her campaign, and knocked Sanders on the issue of gun control, which she has emphasized over the last week.
